Brow LiftWhile the eyes are the “windows to the soul” the eyebrows provide the framing. Some patients may have eyebrows that are naturally at a lower than ideal position. This may create an “angry” or “tired” look. Other patients may have eyebrows that have sagged downward over time, due to the effects of aging. In either case, lifting the eyebrows can re-frame the eyes and provide a rejuvenated, more youthful look. Many patients also have an asymmetry in the resting position of the eyebrows. Whether naturally occurring as a result of genetics, or as a result of aging, a brow lift can help create symmetry and facial balance in the position and shape of the brows. Dr. Maria, is in a unique position to provide expert Brow Lift treatment for you. She is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, and is Fellowship trained in Facial Cosmetic Surgery. There are several surgical techniques available for a brow lift, from an endoscopic (closed) technique to more traditional “open” techniques. The surgical technique chosen depends on many factors, including the patient’s gender, previous surgeries, brow position, hairline, and forehead shape and size. Dr. Maria will take all these factors into consideration to provide you with the most esthetic outcome and most natural result. A brow lift procedure may be combined with other surgical procedures, including blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), facelift and neck lift, laser skin resurfacing to tighten saggy or crepey skin, and fat grafting to address facial hollowing. Recommendations for additional procedures are dependent on the areas being rejuvenated - the upper face or the entire face and neck. As always, Dr. Maria will customize your treatment to meet your goals and give you a naturally balanced and rejuvenated result. After surgery, some swelling and tightness is expected. This can feel like a headache for a few days, which will be treated with either over-the-counter or prescription medications. After 48 hours, the hair can be gently washed. Depending on the technique used, stitches or other materials used to close the incisions are removed 1-2 weeks after surgery. Dr. Maria, a Fellowship trained Facial Cosmetic Surgeon, will listen carefully to understand the areas of concern for you and discuss appropriate treatment options to give you the desired natural, rejuvenated look. |
